In high-wear applications such as fine coal slurry, kaolin and lithium flotation, the share of 304/316L profiled wire is steadily rising. Industry estimates place annual new and replacement consumption of stainless steel profiled wire in mining at 5,000 to 7,000 tons, with average annual growth of 7%–10%—one of the fastest downstream growth rates over the past five years.

4. Overall Estimate and Outlook

Aggregating the four major application areas, the total annual consumption of stainless steel profiled wire in China's petrochemical and mining sectors in 2025 is estimated at 18,000 to 25,000 tons, an increase of approximately 30%–40% over 2020. Structurally, petroleum and chemical applications account for 65%–70%, mining screening 20%–25%, and other industrial processes roughly 10%.

Looking forward, integrated refining, offshore oil and gas, lithium-battery cathode material supporting facilities, and high-wear mining screening will continue to underpin demand. The core growth driver is gradually shifting from capacity expansion to equipment upgrade and material substitution—where more corrosion-resistant, higher-strength stainless steel profiled materials will replace traditional woven mesh and ordinary metal wire in a wider range of operating conditions, placing higher requirements on material consistency and cross-section precision from manufacturers.
