Recently, the stainless steel profile wire segment has witnessed structural changes. The structure of foreign trade orders keeps optimizing. Together with the implementation of new overseas regulations and technical upgrading of upstream wire rod production lines, the industry is accelerating its transformation toward high-value-added precision manufacturing.
According to feedback from foreign trade markets, overseas inquiries and orders for customized stainless steel profile wires remain promising in September. Demand from downstream sectors including water treatment, seawater desalination, mine screening and chemical equipment continues to grow. Buyers from Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Australia focus on inquiring about wedge wire and triangular profile wire. The proportion of small-batch orders with multiple specifications rises steadily.
The landscape of foreign trade is also adjusting. Large standardized orders from Europe and America shrink to some extent. Instead of focusing merely on price, purchasers evaluate suppliers mainly by mold development capability, delivery stability and material compliance certificates. Demand in RCEP regions stays stable, while new procurement requirements emerge in infrastructure and food machinery sectors in Chile and Colombia. High nickel prices increase the production cost of 316L and duplex stainless steel profile wires, pushing manufacturers to focus on high-value-added products.
In terms of industry compliance, the new EU certification rules for steel melting and casting have officially taken effect. The new regulation imposes strict requirements on full-process smelting traceability for exported stainless steel products. Exporters shall complete material records and provide full smelting certificates. Manufacturers without sound traceability systems will face restrictions on overseas orders. Statistics show that EU’s total stainless steel imports fell year-on-year in the first half of the year. Nevertheless, special precision profile wires for filtration and screening are relatively less affected, demonstrating stronger risk resistance of differentiated products.
The upstream supply chain also embraces upgrading opportunities. Fujian Wuhang, a leading domestic stainless steel wire rod producer, launches technical renovation for wire rod solution annealing and pickling. After completion, the project will effectively improve surface finish and dimensional stability of stainless steel wire rod billets, reduce surface defects of raw materials for precision profile wires and lower reliance on imported billets. It will supply profile wire manufacturers with raw materials of more consistent quality.
In summary, the stainless steel profile wire industry is moving away from low-price competition. Customized precision products serve as the main growth driver. Rising overseas compliance thresholds and improved quality of upstream billets jointly reshape the industry. Enterprises equipped with material traceability systems, precision forming technology and multi-specification customization services will gain more opportunities in global competition.
