Li Qiang said that China and the United States are both important countries in the world, and the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries will not only benefit each other, but also benefit the whole world. Last year, President Xi Jinping and President Biden successfully met in Bali, Indonesia, and reached a series of important consensus, which pointed out the direction for the development of Sino-US relations. China and the United States should take practical actions to implement the consensus of the two heads of state, properly manage differences, and promote Sino-US relations to return to the track of healthy and stable development at an early date.
Li Qiang pointed out: at present, the global task of dealing with climate change is arduous, and it is necessary for all countries, including China and the United States, to strengthen coordination, build consensus, and act promptly, so as to maximize the joint force to deal with climate change. We must practice multilateralism and adhere to the goals and principles set out in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Paris Agreement. To assume their respective responsibilities and abide by the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, developed countries should take the lead in reducing emissions and fulfilling their financial commitments as soon as possible, and developing countries should make contributions within their capacity. In order to share scientific and technological achievements and promote the global green and low-carbon transformation, developed countries should provide more technical support to developing countries. It is hoped that China and the United States will continue to uphold the spirit of cooperation, respect each other's core concerns, seek common ground while reserving differences through full communication, explore more pragmatic and institutionalized cooperation, promote the process of multilateral climate governance, and ensure the full and effective implementation of the Paris Agreement.
Kerry said that the United States and China are the world's top two economies and the top two carbon emitters. The United States hopes that US-China relations will remain stable and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China to jointly address pressing global challenges such as climate change and promote the success of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
